All amounts below are starting estimates. Your final quote depends on group size, location and any extras you add. We agree the price with you before taking a deposit.

How our pricing works

We keep things simple. Each experience has a base rate that covers guiding, equipment loan, route planning and public liability insurance. Food, transport to the meeting point and personal clothing are not included unless stated otherwise.

The figures on this page are indicative starting prices in pounds sterling (£). They reflect a typical group on a standard route within an hour of Manchester. Longer travel, specialist kit requests or extended itineraries will affect the final number. We will always send you a written quote before asking for any payment.

All prices shown exclude VAT. Discovery Dynamics is not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. If our registration status changes, we will update this page and inform existing clients.

What affects the final cost

Several variables can move the price up or down from the starting estimate.

Group sizeLarger groups benefit from a lower per-head rate because the guide cost is shared. Solo or pair bookings may attract a small-group supplement of £30 to £50.
Location and travelRoutes within 60 minutes of Manchester are included in the base rate. Sites further afield add guide travel costs, typically £0.45 per mile beyond that radius.
Season and day of weekWeekday bookings are sometimes discounted by 10% when we have guide availability. Peak-season weekends (April to September) carry no surcharge but fill faster.
Additional equipmentStandard kit is included. Specialist items such as climbing helmets, dry bags or GPS units can be hired at £5 to £15 per item per day.
CateringHot meals and trail snacks can be added to any experience at £40 per person per day, prepared by our guides using locally sourced ingredients.

Pricing questions

A 30% deposit secures your date. We accept bank transfer and card payment via a secure invoice link. The remaining 70% is due 14 days before the activity. For bookings made fewer than 14 days in advance, the full amount is due at the time of booking.
Each card above states the billing unit clearly. Navigation, survival and family days are priced per person. The team expedition challenge is priced per group for up to 15 participants. The bespoke expedition is per person per day. If your group is larger than the stated maximum, we split into parallel groups with separate guides.
Yes. All prices include our public liability cover up to £5 million. Personal accident insurance and travel insurance are your responsibility. We recommend checking whether your existing policies cover outdoor adventure activities.
Cancel more than 14 days before and your deposit is refunded in full. Cancel within 14 days and the deposit is forfeited, though we will try to fill your place and refund if we succeed. If we cancel due to unsafe weather, you receive a full refund or a free rebooking.
Returning participants receive 10% off their second booking and 15% off their third and subsequent bookings within the same calendar year. Corporate clients booking three or more sessions in a year can discuss a retainer arrangement with us directly.
We issue gift vouchers for any fixed-value amount or for a specific experience. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Email us at [email protected] to arrange one.
